Experience the emergency communications center of the future from the moment a 9-1-1 call comes in. Nexus uses real-life scenarios to focus on the communications between 9-1-1 professionals and the citizens and responders they serve.
- Multiple tornados touch down. Local law enforcement is first at many scenes. Mass casualty incidents and major public and private property damage. Many requests for mutual aid. Assistance required from neighboring areas.
More - Motor vehicle crash with injuries. Vehicle extrication and structural compromise and collapse lead to mass casualty incident and medical trauma alert.
More - HazMat incident involving a tractor trailer. Response from multiple agencies, disciplines and jurisdictions, including state and federal resources and secondary responders (power, water, etc.) Mass casualty incident with trauma alert and evacuations of surrounding areas.
More - Cyber / physical attack from initial attack vector using internet of things and spreading to critical infrastructure. ECCs affected (9-1-1, CAD records, GPS, mobile data). Initial attack accompanied by physical event.
More - Structure fire involving multiple jurisdictions both rural and suburban. Communications among 9-1-1 and responders complicated by multiple alarms. Airborne support required. Social media creates crowd issues. ECC is focal point for all communications.
More - High-risk (felony) stop on interstate of vehicle associated with recent drive-by shooting. After initially stopping, occupants open fire on law enforcement officers and flee the scene. Pursuit ensues through multiple jurisdictions.

How will it work?
APCO has partnered with CentralSquare, FirstNet Built with AT&T, GeoComm, Intrado, L3Harris and RapidDeploy to bring these next generation technologies to life. Following a panel discussion, our partners will demonstrate each scenario using their technology and equipment. During these live demonstrations, attendees can ask questions. All scenarios are designed to analyze emergency response, comparing what a current response looks like to what will be possible with next generation technologies.

APCO will also host the Public Safety Communications Leadership in Policy Awards virtually on May 26. Visit the website to check out this year’s winners.
